ABOUT

Maa is an independent design studio founded by Merileena Reunanen, grounded in Helsinki, Finland. It was born out of Merileena’s passion to gather all of her skills and interests under one roof: design and craftsmanship, the human mind, and living in harmony with nature.

Maa offers carefully crafted ceramics and other objects, private wheel throwing tuition and workshops (both in Finland and abroad). Deeply influenced by the philosophy of East Asian craftsmanship, we see the process of creation as just as important as the final product. By working with natural materials, we wish to inspire people to slow down and connect with nature in their everyday lives. Simple things, done with presence and care, bring us the greatest joy.
